Temporal Gestures

The experimental video explores different impressions of time through movement of the body. The evolution of the imagery seeks to texturize three distinct timescales of consciousness. By photographing change in motion through time, we see a succession of movements that suggests a path of infinite variation.

While we are tied to the constant sense of the present, the movement of time between moments is not necessarily constant. This work illustrates distinct temporal states that mirror the linear constructions of the mind.

This video projection was an exploration of how a projected animation can be grounded within a space. Its components include a cyclical animation projected upwards onto white fabric, which was viewable by reclining on bean bags below.

In the animation, platonic spheres rotate around each other - their position follows the form of an undulating hypercube. As the spheres move away into the background other points pop into view. The view is then rotated through the star field. The bean bags below the projection facilitate a comfortable posture reminiscent of stargazing and daydreaming.
